Member Spotlight: William (Bud) Hobeck

“I started in the computer industry after attending a computer tech school in 1980—yeah, 27 years ago and before the personal computer was even available,” says Bud. “Initially I worked as a field service technician before moving up to a team lead position.”

His FI career began with a community thrift in late 1980s. When it was taken over by the RTC, he earned his Novell certification, which got him into the network engineering field. Bud later worked for a number of government contractors until he was approached by Synergy One Federal Credit Union in Manassas to manage its IT department.

“I am a Virginian by birth,” says Bud. “Having traveled to more than 20 countries, and too many states to count, there is no other place that we would rather be, which is why my wife and two boys and I still live in Virginia.”
