Four CUs Win Technology Council 'Best Practices' Award

Tinker FCU, State ECU, Nassau Financial FCU and Envision CU were honored as winners of the 2009 CUNA Technology Council Best Practices Awards at the Council's 14th Annual Summit, which took place Aug. 5-8 in San Francisco, Calif.

The CUNA Technology Council award recognizes outstanding approaches to technology challenges with potential for universal application across the credit union movement in four major categories.

  • In the technology infrastructure category, Tinker FCU in Tinker AFB, Okla., won the award for their virtualization & storage area networking of their core processing system.
  • In the information security/privacy category, the award went to State ECU in Raleigh, N.C., for their member photo ID program.
  • In the sales management/ marketing automation category , Nassau Financial FCU in Westbury, N.Y., won for their in-house MCIF & core processing solution to determine household identity / member segmentation.
  • Finally, the award in the miscellaneous category went to Envision CU in Tallahassee, Fla., for utilizing various technologies which resulted in increased efficiencies, including a centralized data conversion utility interface for their “legacy” data processing system; an automated and more streamlined coin & currency ordering process; a new tool for trend analysis and account research in general ledger accounts.

A panel comprised of CUNA Technology Council members selected the winners, based on strategy, process, application, and results, without regard to credit union asset size. The Council also awarded three honorable mentions in the following categories:

  • Technology Infrastructure – Forum CU in Indianapolis, Ind. for their innovative interactive intelligence program and Technology CU in San Jose, Calif. for a new online banking administrative tool.
  • Sales Management/ Marketing Automation – Beehive FCU in Rexburg, Idaho for their in-branch video display software switching system.
